Trump's Judge Overrules the 'Special Master' He Asked For, After A Ruling Trump Doesn't like
Trump's Judge Cannon also postpones Trump's deadline until after the mid-terms
There’s really no point in pretending this is anything other than Trump receiving special treatment from the right-wing judge he appointed. As reported by the Washington Post, Judge Aileen M. Cannon told Donald Trump’s lawyers Thursday that they did not need to comply with an order from special master Raymond J. Dearie and say in a court filing whether they believe FBI agents lied about documents seized from the former president’s Florida residence. Thursday’s ruling was the first clash between Cannon, a Trump appointee who has generally shown Trump deference in litigation over the Mar-a-Lago investigation, and Dearie, a federal judge she appointed as an outside expert in the case, who appears to be far more skeptical of Trump. Dearie last week told the former president’s legal team that it couldn’t suggest in court filings that the government’s description of the seized documents — including whether they were classified — was inaccurate without providing any evidence. Additionally, he ordered them to submit to the court by Oct. 7 any specific inaccuracies they saw in the government’s inventory list of seized items. The deadline for that has now been moved to December 15th by Trump’s Judge Cannon. If you think this stinks of politicizing the courts, you are correct…

Artificial Intelligence can now create ANY image in seconds, based on text, bringing wonder and danger
This is truly a MUST READ. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been controversial since the term entered the public sphere. Now, the ability of AI to create original, sometimes accurate, and occasionally inspired images from any spur-of-the-moment phrase, like a conversational Photoshop, “has startled even jaded Internet users with how quickly AI has progressed.” Within the article, just try to tell the difference between a real photo and what AI has generated. As reported by The Washington Post in an excellent article replete with photo examples, the technology is now spreading rapidly, faster than AI companies can shape norms around its use and prevent dangerous outcomes. Researchers worry that these systems produce images that can cause a range of harms, such as reinforcing racial and gender stereotypes or plagiarizing artists whose work was siphoned without their consent. Fake photos could be used to enable bullying and harassment — or create disinformation that looks real. As Wael Abd-Almageed, a professor at the University of Southern California’s school of engineering points out, “Once the line between truth and fake is eroded, everything will become fake. We will not be able to believe anything.” Here’s the entire amazing report…

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton fled his home to avoid a subpoena
Texas’ top legal official, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, fled his home Monday to avoid being served a subpoena concerning a federal lawsuit that seeks to help Texans access and pay for out-of-state abortions. As reported by Huffington Post, process server Ernesto Martin Herrera testified in a sworn affidavit that Paxton “refused to accept” the documents when he was confronted with them Monday morning and instead literally ran away, then fled in a truck driven by his wife, Republican state Sen. Angela Paxton. According to Herrera, “I walked up the driveway approaching Mr. Paxton and called him by his name. As soon as he saw me and heard me call his name out, he turned around and ran back inside the house.” Soon after, Herrera said, “Mr. Paxton ran from the door inside the garage” to the truck, ignoring the process server as he “loudly” stated he had court documents. The attorney general attempted to defend himself, portraying his actions as a matter of personal safety. “Given that this suspicious and erratic man charged me on my private property, he is lucky this situation did not escalate further or necessitate force,” said Paxton. Apparently, using force to avoid accepting a lawful subpoena seemed like an appropriate next move to Paxton. Good to know the man in charge of enforcing the laws in Texas doesn't need no stinkin’ laws when it comes too himself…

DeSantis, once a ‘No’ on storm aid, petitions a President he’s bashed
With his most recent stunt — flying undocumented Venezuelan immigrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard — Florida MAGA-Republican Governor Ron DeSantis reinforced the image that he is more than willing to turn the machinery of the state against specific political targets. As a freshman congressman in 2013, Ron DeSantis was unambiguous: A federal bailout for the New York region after Hurricane Sandy was an irresponsible boondoggle, a symbol of the “put it on the credit card mentality” he had come to Washington to oppose. “I sympathize with the victims,” he said. But his answer was no. Fast forward a decade: As reported by the NY Times, the devastation of Florida in the wake of Hurricane Ian “has inspired a less swaggering posture” toward a leader whom Mr. DeSantis has long called “Brandon” as a recurring troll, aimed at the man he might like to succeed. Yet now, after Hurricane Ian, “Dear Mr. President,” was the way the governor’s request for a major disaster declaration and federal assistance began on Wednesday. “Ironically,” said David Jolly, a former Republican congressman from Florida, “there’s nobody in America that Ron DeSantis needs more than Joe Biden”…
